Robyn Orlowski of EMI Music Publishing – Alumni Profile

Robyn Orlowski graduated from the UM-MBEI program in December of 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree. She is currently the Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Copyright / Copyright Agreement Coordinator. “EMI Music Publishing is the largest music publisher in the world. EMI enters into agreements with new songwriters, renews agreements with established songwriters and acquires compositions for existing catalogues which we administer and control the copyrights.” Robyn’s day to day job responsibilities deal mostly with acquiring songs and contracts: “Each time EMI signs a new domestic songwriter agreement I enter all of the acquired songs into out database and notify our foreign affiliates of different points of the agreement I also send out notification to the performing rights societies and record clubs. Lastly, I am a liaison between our writers, managers, attorneys and out mechanical licensing directory in order to ensure timely licensing for our major album releases.

Robyn recalls fond memories as a UM student: “I had a wonderful experience as an undergraduate student in the UM-MBEI program.
