Progris,
Professor and Chair, Department of Music Media
and Industry and Program Director, Music Business and Entertainment
Industries, holds B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Boston Conservatory
of Music. He has broad experience as a pianist, freelance arranger,
and artist manager, and is a specialist in the legal and management
aspects of the music and entertainment industries. He has planned,
implemented, and participated in many music industry conferences
as moderator and panelist.
Progris has more than 100 music publications
and has published with Hansen Publications; Warner Brothers Publications,
Inc.; Berklee Press; and the University of Miami Music Press.
He has served as chief executive officer for the Entertainment
Management Institute, and as director of the National Academy
of Recording Arts and Sciences Institute. He is the founder and
past national president of the Music and Entertainment Industry
Educators Association.

Rey
Sanchez
is a Songwriter, Producer, and Educator.
He holds degrees in Composition and Studio Writing/Production
from the University of Miami where he serves on the Music Business
faculty. Rey has been the long-time Musical Director for
Latin superstar Chayanne and is a voting member of National Academy
of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Rey is actively involved in professional songwriting and record
production, working with EMI Music Publishing, Sony BMG, Universal
and others. He is also building a catalog of educational
guitar books for FJH Music Publishing.

Serona Elton
holds a BS in Finance from the
University of Florida (1993), an MM in Music Media and Industry
from the University of Miami (1995) and a JD from Brooklyn Law
School (2000) and is a member of the New York Bar (2001) and Florida
Bar (2002).
Ms. Elton has broad experience in the music industry. In 1993,
during her time as a student in the graduate program at UM, she
helped found the student-run record label ‘Cane Records. She also
helped start the UM chapter of the Music & Entertainment Industry
Student Association.
From 1995 to 2003 she worked for EMI Recorded Music, North America,
where she held a number of positions: Business Analyst; Senior
Business Analyst; Manager, Royalty System Implementation; Associate
Director, Royalties; Director, Business Analysis; Senior Director,
Business Analysis; and finally Vice President, Mechanical Licensing
and Repertoire Data Services. Most significantly during her tenure
at EMI she played an integral role in the successful implementation
of a custom designed artist royalty system, the design and launch
of a global repertoire and rights project and the development
of new processes to support the digital distribution of recordings.
She also participated in the RIAA and International Federation
of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) project called the Music Industry
Integrated Identifier Project (MI3P), which is best known for
developing a new unique identifier for digital music-based products
called the Global Release Identifier (GRID), including serving
as Chairperson on two sub-committees.
Ms. Elton left EMI in 2003 to pursue other legal endeavors. Beginning
in early 2006, she began serving as a consultant to Sony BMG Music
Entertainment and Pandisc Music Corp.
